Elgin Green Groups 350 meetings

3rd Monday of every month

Monthly EGG350 meeting:
December 20, 2021

In-person Christmas Party (masks required) at Hawthorne Hill Nature Center!

Dr. Katharine Hayhoe says: Use your voice to connect climate to what people care about.
Use your voice to connect climate to what people care about. Then tell them what is being done. For example, I love trees and am worried about the climate. ‘One Million Trees’ is a multiple cities project that has the goal of planting that many trees. And there is the ‘One Billion Tree Project’ in Pakistan, and the global ‘One Trillion Tree Project” started by Jane Goodall for this decade. In Elgin we have the Ikes tree planting project where 250 tree seedlings are being planted by middle school students of Ellis Middle School each year with help from the Izaac Walton League. This year the Elgin Kiwanians planted 400 trees at Fitchie Creek Nature Preserve. So there are many ways to get involved, and many projects being done on just that one area. There is hope. There are solutions, and we can all get involved in the areas we care the most about! AND tree planting helps the climate by providing shade from the sun, and by using greenhouse gasses to grow–carbon dioxide–CO2.

RSVP via the Facebook Event (COMING SOON).
